Auto Insurance Rates - How Your Home Affects It

Where you live affects your auto insurance rates. How is it possible? Does that mean that I can actually get higher or lower rates by changing my place of residence? Yes, you can. You may find this hard to believe unless you're an insurance expert. However, there are things you can do to actually use your home to get better rates.

There are certain good reasons why information about your place of residence is required in getting an auto insurance quote. This is also the reason why information on your place of work could also be required.

They need to know where you live in order to determine how safe or risky the neighborhood is. If you live in an area that has a high incidence of car theft, vandalism and/or violence. You'll pay a lot more than if you live in a peaceful neighborhood. This is where many folks start losing good money.

There has to be a map or something that zones areas into high risk, medium risk, low risk and, perhaps, no risk areas. In grouping areas, there have to be boundaries for different risk categories. This is especially true if you intend to live there for any considerable time.
