Energy Drains - Tolerations
Post on Jun 9th 2008
However much we work towards building the life we want, our efforts can be severely diluted if we keep putting up with situations which drain our energy.
ENERGY DRAINS fall into three main categories
TOLERATIONS
UNRESOLVED PAST ISSUES
WEAK BOUNDARIES
This month we're looking at TOLERATIONS
TOLERATIONS are things we consistently put up with causing us repeated frustration and anxiety and which constantly, and sometimes insidiously, drain our energy.
Examples of tolerations can range from minor to major issues and may include such things as
The Caps key on your keyboard doesnt work consistently
The garage door keeps sticking especially, it seems, when youre tight for time
Someone repeatedly takes you for granted
Unhappy at work
Living in the wrong location
Please ask yourself
> What things are you tolerating?
> What effects do these tolerations have?
> What can you do about them?
> If you deal with them what risks are involved?
> Are those risks worth it?
> What would happen if you handled a toleration effectively so it didnt keep recurring?
> How would you feel?
If you would like to start the process of handling your tolerations please -
a) Make a list of 5 things you are currently putting up with
b) Choose one you feel you could address and deal with during this month
c) Write down EXACTLY what you need to do to handle it COMPLETELY so it doesnt keep recurring
d) Commit to completely handling this toleration this month
e) Take the necessary steps
When youve completely dealt with this toleration please
Examine how you feel
Commit your feelings to paper
Please continue the process with other tolerations. Youll find the more you handle the easier it gets and youll be able to progressively deal with more major issues.
CONGRATULATIONS! Doing beats stewing!
