How To Choose A Life Coach
Post on Jul 9th 2008
Many people are in the process of looking for a life coach or an executive coach, but are there differences between what to look for when seeking an executive coach vs a life coach. In this article we will focus on how to find the right life coach for your personal work. Both individuals and organizations who work with a professional coach will experience fresh perspectives, new opportunities, and improved decisions making skills, better interpersonal effectiveness and increased confidence in their everyday life.
Consistent work with a life coach can be extremely beneficial, not only to the individual but to anyone that you relate to in your everyday life. Coaching can also lead to see more appreciative results as coaching is measured in results, not in theories. The results of reaching goals and personal achievement.
To ensure that you get the most out of your life coaching experience and to make sure that you are satisfied with what you are paying for make sure that you choose a great coach, here are a few pointer when choosing your life coach.
Talk to several coaches and see which you find rapport with. For example, does the coach listen well, do you think your coach understands what it is that you are looking to achieve throughout the life coaching process.
Choose someone that has accreditation, there are several good federations that teach excellent guidelines and ethics. This is very important, and will also ensure that you get a professional. Ask them where they got their accreditation.
Ensure that you coach has received training, this can be coaching universities, NLP or other types of coaching that is recognized internationally. There are a lot of coaches out there, some of which are excellent while others may be lacking in some ways.
Choose a coach that has the experience you are looking for, if you want to improve communication for example you would not go see a health coach. There are coaches out there that work in more than one field since they are so interconnected. Choose the coach you think can work the best with you.
Ask the potential coach what services they deliver, ask for price, in this business like many others you get what you pay for. I have yet to find a client that regretted paying the fee the coach setup. Most coaches will ask you to do a long term contract, this can be anywhere from one month to six months depending on what you want. Life coaching is not different from other types of coaching, you will not match Tiger Woods ability golfing by seeing a golf pro once.
We hope that this will help you when choosing the right Life coach for you. These guideline you can also use when choosing a motivational speaker or an executive coach. We will also list a few things to look for when seeking an executive coach.
