Internet Marketing Tips - Who Is Your Market?

A lot of marketers jump right into the make money online niche without giving one minute of thought as to who they are actually selling to. Believe it or not, not everybody who is in Internet marketing is at the same level. So a product that you are selling, either your own or as an affiliate, may not be for everyone. And if you're targeting the wrong crowd with your ads, it doesn't matter how good the product is, it's not going to sell. At least it's not going to sell very well. This article is going to try to get you to think about who your market is by pointing out the three general target markets in the make money niche.

The first market is the total new person. This is the marketer who is just starting. They don't have any clue as to what Internet marketing involves, let alone how to do it successfully. Now, most marketers would think that you can sell this person anything. That is so far from the truth it isn't funny. A person who doesn't even know what an autoresponder is, let alone how to use it, is not going to be interested in a product that is going to teach them advanced autoresponder sales messages. Certainly they are in no position to use it, at least not yet. With this person, you have to start off by selling products that teach the basics such as how to set up an autoresponder, how to take payments online, basic advertising techniques, and so on.

The second market is the person who has been around a little while. They know the basics of promotion, writing simple ads, using autoresponders and so on. They're the intermediate marketer. This person doesn't need products teaching them how to set up an autoresponder. They need a good course on how to write killer autoresponder messages that convert to sales. They need some advanced advertising techniques. The basic stuff is going to bore them to tears. So they need something with a little more meat on the bone.

The third market is your advanced marketer. This is the person who knows quite a bit. Maybe they know almost everything. However, they're still open to learning new concepts. These are the people who you will sell advanced seminars to on marketing techniques. Mike Filsaime does a great job of this with many of his products. They are quite advanced and more geared towards those who have been doing this for a while. Point is, an advanced marketer is not going to buy your book on how to blog. They are way past that stage.

By knowing who your market is and how to reach them, you end up making the most of your advertising efforts and ultimately make more sales.
